What is AI?
It’s a great question, and one that means different things to different people, is often messy and is frequently incorrectly portrayed.
Loosely defined as “a machine or system simulating human-like cognitive abilities”, AI comes in a number of forms, Non-Generative, Generative, Machine Learning, Reasoning, Perception and many more.
Non-generative solutions have been around for years, but it is the arrival of Generative AI (GenAI) that has rocked the world.
For many, access to services like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and numerous others have opened a world of curiosity, but research shows that 70% of the benefit of AI comes from the human interaction, 20% from the source data and only 10% from the actual AI model.
AI is labelled as being in everything from the workplace, to smartphones, refrigerators, medical applications and military weaponry. Being clear on what AI you are talking about, and what AI works for your business is critical.
